Tesla Exoskeleton vs Unibody

1312 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  SilverBullet
Tesla explains that the "Cybertruck is built with an exterior shell made for ultimate durability and passenger protection. Starting with a nearly impenetrable exoskeleton, every component is designed for superior strength and endurance, from Ultra-Hard 30X Cold-Rolled stainless-steel structural skin to Tesla armor glass." Not much different from a unibody design. Just terms that are useful for marketing purposes especially in Tesla's case. The only ACTUAL differences is that here, we have an nontraditional production process (30X Cold-Rolled stainless-steel) and more weight distributed towards the exterior.

It sounds all well and good but let's see how it handles in the crash and safety testing.
I'm confident it will do well especially with Elon's focus on how the shells distributes energy.
